Maureen Paley

Maureen Paley has been a pioneer in exhibiting contemporary art in London’s East End for many years. Completed in autumn 2020, the new space at 60 Three Colts Lane retains the gallery’s longstanding connection with the local area. The client had a very clear idea of their requirements and together with Westgreen’s creative team, the design was evolved to result in a suite of exhibition spaces with full back-of-house amenities. The gallery’s relocation was an opportunity for the client to explore the latest in lighting technology – in this case, a versatile combination of tablet-controlled LED strips and Erco spots, allowing for multiple lighting configurations. Exposed concrete floors and ceilings, together with exposed services, complete the aesthetic, and make for a raw counterpoint to the otherwise ‘white wall’ environment.
