Into the Tunnels: Sourcing Portland Stone for a Private Residence

Team Westgreen recently had the pleasure of joining Holloway Li on an interesting visit to a quarry on the Isle of Portland.

20 metres below ground, they explored 4.5 miles of tunnels, discovering the different varieties and characteristics of Portland Stone and the craftsmanship involved in extracting and selecting the right material.

The visit was part of the process of selecting a specific Portland Stone for a private residential project, an important step in ensuring the material is right for the project.
