As Westgreen’s Head of Technical, I am proud to introduce my handpicked team that make up our design and services department.

My team of experienced architects, document controllers and technical services managers provide a skilled and friendly interface to successfully navigate the design delivery process. Whilst all members of the team are proficient within their fields, each has particular strengths and these are mentioned for reference. Across our diverse range of new-build and refurbishment projects, my team and I provide interrogative and detailed services management and support from project inception to completion, further extending into aftercare and maintenance. The range of experience and specific knowledge held by the team ensures that we are able to positively support clients, appointed professionals and our supply chain partners, always with emphasis on pre-emptive planning and solutions-focused contributions, to ensure best-possible, robust outcomes. We are technically proficient and honest. At Westgreen, our design management services have evolved out of problem solving, supporting and managing the transition of the detailed design and production design information. This is particularly pertinent where specialist sub-contractor design information has been required to complete the design consultants’ design intent. Aligning Design With Procurement

Contractors Design Portions
Under Contractor Design Portion agreements, the design completion can become the contractor’s responsibility for specific parts of the works and a sub-contractor’s responsibility for part or all of the sub-contracted’ works.

Working With The Appropriate Specialists To Deliver The Best Outcomes
We optimise the design process where it is known that specialist manufacturers and sub-contractors will be involved in the realisation of a technical solution. We work with the designer to find the appropriate sub-contractor or specialist to deliver the built design elements, ensuring scopes are defined, interfaces are understood, ambiguity is removed, and that solutions work in harmony to assure the technical realisation of the design.

Assisting Architects Optimise Resourcing During Staged Tender Procurement
‘Staged’ tendered procurements are increasingly becoming the norm, helping to manage risk and cost across a demanding programme. But this process often throws up challenges to a linear staged design process that is not always aligned with the timing of the design team’s release of information and can be disruptive. Our design management services are available during such pre-construction stages, providing the necessary support in terms of skill, capability and capacity, to help the designer successfully navigate through due process. This removes unnecessary administrative burdens and engenders solutions that help design teams find the most efficient way forward in the deployment of precious resources towards design priority outputs.

Removing Abortive Work & Optimising Architects’ Resources
Where this procurement route is chosen, our preferred strategy is to integrate our design managers to work alongside designers and sub-contractor specialists. The aim is to develop the best solutions that will eventually become part of the tender offer and minimise abortive work for the architect.

Technical Services

Building Services Management & Installation
The services element is critical to project delivery. Our in-house Technical Services Manager (TSM) oversees all procedures from tender to delivery, ensuring a cost-effective, fully functional environmental system that meets end-user needs.

Westgreen Services Management
We coordinate and deliver across:

  • Audio-visual, lighting, electrical, lifts, fire alarms, security, incoming utilities

  • Plumbing, heating, gas installations

  • External irrigation and water features

Pre/Post-Tender

  • Analyse tender drawings and specifications and distribute to relevant sub-contractors

  • Host early design workshops to ensure sub-contractors understand project complexity

  • Engage with clients and consultants, resolving queries and offering value engineering options

  • Conduct post-tender interviews to ensure compliance and QA standards

  • Review commissioning programme early and issue procurement schedules for long-lead items

Pre-Construction & Construction

  • Weekly meetings with client designers and sub-contractors to resolve design issues and approve technical submissions

  • Revit models highlight pinch points and ensure clash-free design

  • Weekly progress meetings track installation and procurement programmes

  • Daily quality checks and void closure approvals maintain high installation standards and minimize damage

Testing & Commissioning

  • Fully planned, executed, and documented with TSM oversight

  • Specialist sub-contractors use independent testing companies and commissioning engineers

  • Systems set to work and performance-tested according to CIBSE and M&E specifications, with results recorded in commissioning sheets for the O&M Manual

Record Drawings & O&M Instructions

  • Drawings updated to reflect site changes and commissioning results, verified by TSM

  • Client involvement in training programmes is welcomed to ensure proper operation and maintenance
