Originally constructed in 1972 Southbank Tower is a landmark building situated adjacent to the River Thames near to Blackfriars Bridge. In 2011 Southbank Tower underwent a change of use including 11-storey extension creating luxurious residential apartments with far-reaching views over the city skyline. The apartment was stripped back to shell, set out and surveyed for final wall penetrations, allowing for the designed interior to be reformed to uncompromising standards. Almost everything in this high specification project has been designed and will be custom made, right down to the door handles and floor boxes. A material palette comprising generous planes of honed travertine, with even the kitchen and bathrooms to be formed in travertine, giving the project a quarried feel. Leather panelling, polished plaster surfaces and fine joinery complement elsewhere. A custom designed & made terrazzo is to be used exclusively across all floor areas to tie the various spaces and elements together. Cabinetry consists of maple units, pear veneered doors and brass and bronze ironmongery. The kitchen is equipped with Vola kitchen fixtures and Miele equipment. High-specification AV and amenities feature significantly. The project also benefits from underfloor heating throughout, with solar and blackout blinds for the full-height windows, which offer panoramic views from Westminster to St Paul’s and the City of London.
