Westgreen were delighted to warmly welcome client and consultant team to join us for a milestone ceremony at the Duke of York Restaurant. The assembled guests were gathered to mark the ‘topping out’ of the building, signifying the completion of the main structure of the Cadogan commissioned, award-winning design by Nex Architecture.
Following speeches by both Cadogan’s Chairman, Viscount Chelsea and our MD John Gilsenan, thanking all involved in this unique landmark project, the pair ceremonially left their handprints in a slab of wet concrete. The handprints are due to be installed into the concrete structure of the restaurant’s upper roof.
Before leaving for a reception at the adjacent Saatchi Gallery restaurant, John Gilsenan presented Viscount Chelsea and guests each with a presentation model, designed to celebrate the unique, sweeping lines of the restaurant’s pre-cast, curved structure. The models were handmade in one-off moulds and cast in portland stone jesmonite by a member of Westgreen Studio’s architectural team, Tom Penny.
Duke of York Restaurant is scheduled for completion in Autumn 2018.
